WICHITA, Kan.–Credit Union of America (CUA) said 12 students have been selected as recipients of its 2025 John Michener Student Scholarship. Each will receive a $2,000 scholarship toward their college education.
Now in its 13th year, the scholarship program honors Credit Union of America’s founder and former educator, John Michener.
“It reflects his legacy of learning by supporting students across a wide range of studies as they work toward their educational and career goals,” the credit union said.

To be eligible, applicants had to be age 24 or younger, a CUA member, and either a high school senior or currently enrolled undergraduate student. Each student selected stood out for their hard work, vision, and commitment to making a difference through their chosen field of study.
Since its beginning in 2011, the John Michener Scholarship Program has awarded more than $200,000 to 169 students. This scholarship program demonstrates CUA’s ongoing commitment to supporting the educational aspirations of its members.
COLUMBIA, Md.–More than $36,000 was raised at the 2025 Maryland and DC Play Yellow Charity Golf Classic hosted by Credit Union Miracle Day, to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals).
Held at Hobbit’s Glen Golf Club in Columbia, Md., the tournament brought together nearly 100 golfers who “braved inclement weather for a spirited day of competition and giving.”
A check for $30,760 was presented to representatives from Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at the start of the tournament, with the remaining donations from golfers being raised during the tournament.
“The generosity and dedication of our credit unions and business partners was really demonstrated by how many turned out to support this day even with less than perfect weather conditions!” John Bratsakis, Board Chair of Credit Union Miracle Day and president/CEO of the MD|DC Credit Union Association, said in a statement. “Their support helps ensure that families have access to the critical care provided by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. It’s a powerful reminder of how the credit union community comes together to make a real difference in the lives of children and families facing serious health challenges.”
Where Funds Go
Funds raised from the event will support two regional CMN Hospitals — Children’s National in Washington, DC, and Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore — helping to provide life-saving treatments, pediatric medical equipment, and essential healthcare services.
Since adopting CMN Hospitals as its charity of choice in 1996, the credit union industry has raised over $200 million for the network nationwide.
