MADISON, Wis. – Filene Research Institute’s FiLab has announced its top 25 semi-finalist solutions for its 2026 Test Menu.
Selected from a competitive pool of 85 applications, Filene said the innovations showcase cutting-edge products and services designed to help credit unions better serve their members, strengthen operations, and drive sustainable growth.
This group of semi-finalist solutions will set the stage for the final selection process happening during the 2025 FiLab Symposium, August 26–28 at the Madison Concourse Hotel in Madison, Wis., according to Filene.

It said the “immersive” three-day event will convene credit union leaders, strategic partners, and innovation experts to evaluate the semi-finalists, ultimately voting to select up to seven solutions for collaborative testing beginning in January 2026.
‘Most Competitive Yet’
“This year’s applicant pool was our most competitive yet, making it both inspiring and challenging to narrow the list down to 25,” Megan Freshour, incubation director at Filene, said in a statement. “Each of these solutions has the potential to make a significant impact on the credit union industry, and we can’t wait to see them pitch their ideas at the Symposium.”
Five Key Themes
According to Filene, the 2026 FiLab Test Menu is organized around five key themes shaping the future of the credit union industry:
- Community Access & Business Support
- Digital Engagement & Personalization
- Fraud, Risk & Compliance
- Member Financial Empowerment
- Operational Efficiency & Automation
“Each solution is designated as either a Growth or Impact test, reflecting its primary potential to drive business expansion or create measurable positive change for members and communities,” Filene explained. “This dual-track approach ensures that FiLab continues to prioritize both innovation and inclusion. Collectively, these solutions showcase the ingenuity and forward-thinking spirit driving the future of financial services.”
About the Event
Filene said attendees of the Symposium will engage in pitch sessions, strategic discussions, and lively debate before voting to finalize the 2026 testing agenda. The full menu, including detailed solution descriptions, themes, and Growth/Impact designations, is available here.
