Nuvision CU, Staff Expand Support Through Nuvision Cares Initiative

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – Continuing its commitment to — and investment in — the communities it serves, Nuvision Credit Union celebrated April’s National Volunteer Month by expanding its support of local causes and nonprofits through its NuvisionCares initiative.

Nuvision Credit Union’s commitment to community extends beyond financial services, focusing on three core pillars aligned with the spirit of giving back, and intrinsically tied to the credit union’s purpose: helping those in need, fostering financial literacy, and honoring first responders.

Building on a strong 2025 of community service that included over 1,500 volunteer hours served and 100+ community events that positively impacted 30,000+ people, Nuvision team members commemorated National Volunteer Month by dedicating time to helping the local communities it serves.

Team members volunteered at numerous community partner organizations to help those facing food insecurities, including: Bracken’s Kitchen (Orange County, California), Loaves and Fishes (Contra Costa County, California), and Bean’s Café (Anchorage, Alaska).

In April, the credit union also hosted its How Money Works financial literacy program for more than 100 students at Costa Mesa High School in southern California. Team members also participated in the Bay Area’s Pleasanton Run for Education, supporting Pleasanton Partnerships in Education’s (PPIE) efforts to fund classroom resources, educational programs, teacher grants, and student opportunities.

“The month of April is a time to honor and recognize individuals who support their communities through volunteering and civic engagement, said Roger Ballard, Nuvision CEO.  “We’re celebrating every Nuvision team member who’s volunteered across the states we serve, for their enduring commitment to community service.”

April’s initiatives are part of the credit union’s larger, ongoing effort. Thus far in 2026, more than 150 Nuvision team members have volunteered over 300 hours at 20+ community events, supporting the members and communities it serves.

“The opportunity to volunteer in the communities we serve is incredibly impactful for me,” notes Rebecca Sheibe, Nuvision Team Member Success Specialist.  “I love connecting with people, learning about their lives and families, and understanding both the challenges and successes they experience. Volunteering alongside my Nuvision teammates makes it even more meaningful—I’m proud to work with such compassionate, like‑minded individuals who genuinely care about one another and the communities around us.”

Nuvision is a purpose-driven organization filled with caring, compassionate team members who help members build their lives and make local communities a better place to live. The credit union emphasizes volunteerism and providing essential resources to uplift families and build stronger local bonds, delivering meaningful impact to the communities it serves through its NuvisionCares program.

“To me, volunteering truly gives me a sense of purpose, knowing that my time and effort really matters to someone else,” added Sally Im, VP of Branches at Nuvision.  “It is also a humbling reminder that even small acts can create meaningful change.  I feel blessed to work for an organization that prioritizes giving back to the community we serve.”

“Volunteerism is a reminder that small, intentional actions can create real impact,” said Beth Bernal, Nuvision Knowledge Management Specialist.  “Nuvision has created meaningful opportunities for employees to feel more connected to their communities by going beyond the typical canned food drive and focusing on hands‑on service that truly matters. For me, it is about connection, showing up with purpose, and being part of something bigger than myself.”

“Volunteering is a meaningful way for me to stay connected to the communities we serve,” noted Lily Li, Nuvision’s Chief Credit Officer.  “Whether honoring our veterans, supporting first responders, or helping families prepare for Alaska’s harsh winters by providing coats and boots for children, these moments remind me that our work goes beyond financial services.  It is about caring for people.  I am proud to be part of an organization that lives its values through service and genuinely invests in the well-being of others.”

“Our team shows up because it’s part of the fabric of who we are — we’re committed to building the communities we serve,” added Ballard.  “National Volunteer Month is a wonderful time to recognize the amazing efforts of our team members in the community, and a fantastic reminder of the power of service, but at Nuvision, giving back is a year-round commitment.”
