LEICESTER, N.C.–Credit union buildings continue to be the targets of drivers across the country.
In the CU Daily’s ongoing investigative series on People Helping People Crash into Other People, the latest incidents include:
Two Cars Hit CU in North Carolina
In Leicester, N.C., two cars crashed into a credit union building. At 1:48 p.m., police said a car pulled into moving traffic on New Leicester Highway, hitting another car and then both cars crashed into the nearby Telco Community Credit Union- Leicester Branch building.
One car hit the side of the building. The other crashed near the front door, its front bumper going into the building, police said. Neither driver suffered any major injuries.

DUI Suspected in Georgia Crash
In Macon, Ga., a man was charged with driving under the influence after crashing into a Robins Financial Credit Union building and then allegedly driving away on Saturday, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a police report, the sheriff’s office got a call about a hit-and-run at the Robins Financial Credit Union on Log Cabin Drive at around 3 p.m. on a Saturday. Witnesses told deputies they saw a BMW enter the parking lot of the bank, lose control and drive through the glass partition of the building. Afterwards, they drove away from the scene, according to the report.
The sheriff’s office says a deputy quickly tracked down the hit-and-run driver and stopped them on Heath Road. When a deputy approached the vehicle, they found a man at the wheel.
The report said the man smelled like alcohol, was slurring his speech and both his eyes were red and watery. While the man told officers he only had half a beer earlier that day, a preliminary breath test showed he had consumed more than double the legal limit, according to the incident report.
He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, a hit-and-run and criminal damage to property in the second degree and booked into the Bibb County jail, according to the report.

92-Year-Old Driver Hits CU
In Red Hook, N.Y., a 92-year-old Rhinebeck man was injured after police say he suffered a medical incident and crashed his car into the Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union branch in the village.
The Red Hook Police Department said police were called to the credit union branch at 7472 South Broadway at approximately 11:35 a.m. Authorities added that an initial investigation determined that the man was attempting to back a 1999 Buick out of a parking spot at the credit union when he appeared to suffer a medical incident, causing him to strike an unoccupied parked car.
Police said the man then drove the Buick forward at a high rate of speed and crashed into the rear of the credit union, causing extensive damage to the AC units and electrical panels.
There were no injuries to any customers or staff at the credit union and no structural damage reported to the building, authorities said. The man, who was not identified by authorities, was taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital for “evaluation and treatment,” police said.

Driver Runs From the Scene
In Hudson River, N.H., an SUV slammed into a Hudson River Community Credit Union branch in Hudson Falls, forcing the location to temporarily close as investigators worked to track down the driver who ran from the scene.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched at about 4:12 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026, to the credit union building on Burgoyne Avenue after a building alarm. When deputies arrived, they found a vehicle had hit the building, according to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy.
The driver had already fled on foot, prompting a K9 search in the surrounding area. Authorities later located a person of interest and took that person into custody.
Crash on Main Street
In Royal Oak, Mich., a vehicle drove through the front door of an office of Genisys Credit Union on Main Street. According to Royal Oak Police, the crash occurred at 2:15pm at the intersection of N. Main Street and Farnum Avenue when a driver ran a red light. The impact sent one of the vehicles into the building.
“Thankfully no significant injuries occurred,” said Lt. Rich Millard. No arrests were made.
Heather Pizzala, VP-marketing for Genisys told local media, “The Royal Oak branch is temporarily closed while our contractors are onsite securing the building and beginning necessary repairs. The 24-hour ATM at the location is also unavailable. We are working through the process of repairing the branch as quickly as possible and will keep our members updated on reopening plans.
