MIAMI — Lennar Mortgage is notifying customers of a data breach that may have exposed Social Security numbers and other sensitive personal information after an unauthorized party gained access to its systems for nearly a week.
The mortgage lender said unauthorized access occurred between May 26 and June 1, according to HousingWire. Lennar Mortgage completed an investigation Aug. 4 that determined information potentially accessed included names, contact information, dates of birth, Social Security numbers and driver’s license or other government identification numbers.

Lennar Mortgage said it took steps to secure its systems after discovering the incident and launched an investigation with outside cybersecurity specialists, HousingWire reported. The company also notified law enforcement.
Number of People Affected Not Disclosed
The company has not publicly disclosed how many people were affected, according to HousingWire. There was no indication in the reporting that Lennar Mortgage had found evidence that the compromised information had been misused.
The incident carries particular risk because of the amount of sensitive information mortgage lenders collect from borrowers. Lennar Mortgage’s privacy policy says mortgage applicants may provide Social Security numbers, dates of birth, employment and income information, credit histories and other financial information.
Credit Monitoring Offered
Lennar Mortgage is offering affected individuals complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services, HousingWire reported.
The company is the mortgage lending subsidiary of homebuilder Lennar Corp. Lennar Mortgage originates home loans, including financing for buyers purchasing homes from Lennar-affiliated builders.
The incident is separate from a 2023 data breach reported by parent company Lennar Corp. to California authorities.
