Led by Unsecured Personal Loans, Loans Outstanding Were Up 1.22% in June, New ACU Data Show

WASHINGTON–Credit union loans outstanding increased 1.22% in June, compared to a 0.12% increase in May and a 0.38% increase in June 2025, according to America’s Credit Unions’ latest Monthly Credit Union Estimates.

The estimates are generated from the Equifax Analytics Dataset (an anonymized random sample of credit report data that tracks 10% of all U.S. consumers with a Social Security number).

According to America’s Credit Unions’ analysis of the data, lending category increases included:

Increases, Decreases by Category

  • Unsecured personal loans: 3.39%
  • First mortgages: 1.91%
  • Home equity lines of credit: 1.33%
  • Credit cards: 1%
  • Auto loans: 0.4%
  • Secured personal loans: 0.36%
  • Second mortgages: 0.28%

On the decline were private student loans (-.98%).

While credit unions have lost market share in the credit market over the last year, the data show an uptick in June to 14.34%.
