Nuvision CU Donates Winter Essentials and School Supplies to Underprivileged Youth in California and Alaska

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.–Nuvision Credit Union, announced that its annual NuvisionCares Helping Kids in Our Communities program has delivered clothes, winter essentials and school supplies to hundreds of underprivileged youth in California and Alaska.

As part of its long-standing commitment to local communities, the credit union hosted a series of local clothing drives through the program, which began July 1st and ended August 3rd.  With the help of donations from credit union members, the local communities, and the credit union, the month-long initiative helped provide thousands of clothing items and winter essentials to less fortunate kids to help them stay in school and build a better future.

“Our NuvisionCares Helping Kids in Our Communities program provides vital assistance to families and kids in the communities we serve,” said Roger Ballard, CEO of Nuvision.  “Through the program, we’re honored to work with our community partners, supporting their missions to help those in need.

In Alaska, for the fifth consecutive year, Nuvision partnered with Anchorage Cops for Community, participating in the organization’s 12th Annual Clothesline Project. Nuvision’s winter essentials drive supporting the Clothesline Project delivered 2,000 reusable handwarmers, 500 disposable handwarmers, nearly 2,000 pairs of gloves, over 500 beanies, to children in the Anchorage area.

Each year, Anchorage Cops’ Clothesline Project event provides local families the opportunity to shop for clothes at no cost, in preparation for the new school year and the harsh winter months.

“Nuvision has been an incredible partner in making the Clothesline Project a success,” noted Sergeant Jon Butler, Anchorage Police Department. “For the past five years, they’ve consistently stepped up to serve our community in meaningful ways, and to help children and families in need. Their commitment, generosity, and heart for our community continue to make a lasting impact, and we’re truly grateful to have Nuvision standing alongside us as a long-time partner,” concluded Butler.

In Southern California, Nuvision hosted its fifth annual clothing drive for Robyne’s Nest, a community organization in Huntington Beach that supports at-risk and homeless students. The credit union’s team of volunteers delivered hundreds of donated new clothing items to Robyne’s Nest.  The donations will be distributed to disadvantaged teens directly through Robyne’s Nest’s programs and by local school counselors who work directly with teens and families in need.

“Nuvision’s support goes far beyond a check — it’s rooted in a ‘people helping people’ philosophy,” said Natalie Moser, Executive Director, Robyne’s Nest. Their team shows up for our young people again and again, through donations, drives, and genuine partnership. We’re deeply grateful to be part of the NuvisionCares Helping Kids in Our Community initiative.”

For the second year in a row, Nuvision partnered with Bay Area, Contra Costa County-based non-profit White Pony Express to provide clothing for infants in need in Contra Costa County.  Nuvision’s Bay Area clothing drive collected approximately $2,000 in infant essentials, including infant clothing, baby care products, diapers, towels, and diaper bags, supporting White Pony Express’ efforts to help new moms and babies in local communities. All donations will be included in White Pony Express’ baby backpacks that will be distributed to new mothers in September.

“Nuvision Credit Union exemplifies what it means to be a true community partner and this clothing drive is a perfect example of that spirit in action,” said Eve Birge, CEO, White Pony Express. The infant essentials Nuvision collected go directly to families in Contra Costa County who are navigating some of life’s hardest moments, and receiving something as simple as clean, well-chosen clothes for their baby can be profoundly meaningful. We are so grateful to the entire Nuvision team for turning their commitment to service into real, tangible care for our neighbors. This is exactly the kind of partnership that makes our work possible.”

As part of its NuvisionCares campaign, Nuvision is also partnering with Long Beach, California non-profit His Little Feet, for that organization’s upcoming 12th annual Back to School Fair taking place on August 22nd in Long Beach, California. Nuvision donated $2,500 towards backpacks and much needed school supplies to His Little Feet to help kids in the local community get a positive start to the new school year. Nuvision volunteers will be on hand during the event to help kids choose their backpacks and pick out new shoes.

“Nuvision’s love for the community has helped fuel our mission in so many beautiful ways not only through generous financial support, but also through the gift of volunteering at our Back-to-School outreach,” said Hali Wolf, Founder and CEO of His Little Feet.  “Together, we were able to bless more than 250 children in local foster care and shelters with brand-new, name-brand backpacks overflowing with school supplies. The children and their parents will be overwhelmed by the care, generosity, and encouragement they received through our partnership,” Wolf added.  We are incredibly thankful to Nuvision for believing in our mission, showing up for our children, and helping us remind every child that they are seen, valued, and deeply loved.”

“We are honored to have helped make a difference for so many families, children, and teens, as they prepare for the next stage of their lives and build a better future,” concluded Ballard.  “Our team, community partners, and the members who donated to our community drives, were truly amazing.”
