BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Legacy Credit Union will retain naming rights to Birmingham’s largest arena for at least another five years under an agreement with the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex board of directors.
Under the extension, the $727-million Legacy will pay $500,000 annually, or $2.5 million over five years, to keep the Legacy Arena name. The credit union has held naming rights to the venue since 2015, according to the organizations.
The new agreement represents an increase from the $400,000 annually Legacy pays under its current agreement, which expires at the end of December 2026.
‘Memorable Experiences’
“We are grateful for our ongoing partnership with Legacy Credit Union and are proud to preserve Legacy Arena’s name for another five years,” Tad Snider, executive director and CEO of the BJCC, said in a statement. “We’ve hosted countless events that created memorable experiences for fans while benefiting our community.”
The 17,000-seat arena underwent a $125 million renovation in 2020 that included new seating, upgraded acoustics and lighting, a 360-degree LED ribbon board and other improvements.
The BJCC said Legacy Arena has hosted 14 sold-out events during the current fiscal year, spanning concerts, comedy and sporting events.
Notable Events
Among the arena’s events during the fiscal year were Brandy and Monica in November 2025; an Auburn-Houston men’s basketball game; two Cody Johnson concerts in February; Andrea Bocelli; the New Edition Way Tour with Boyz II Men and Toni Braxton; and comedian Nate Bargatze.
Benson Boone is scheduled to perform at the arena Aug. 28.
‘Bringing People Together’
“We love playing a role in bringing people together, strengthening Birmingham’s economy and creating lasting memories,” Legacy Credit Union President and CEO Glenn Bryan said in a statement.
The naming-rights extension comes as the BJCC reports one of its strongest financial years, the organization reported.
During the 2026 fiscal year, BJCC venues hosted 204 events that generated more than $50 million in ticket revenue and $2.3 million in rental income, according to the complex. In addition to Legacy Arena, BJCC facilities include Protective Stadium, a concert hall, theater and City Walk.
