FLINT, Mich.–Financial Plus Credit Union, in partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis, said it awarded nine $2,500 scholarships to graduating seniors at the International Academy of Flint (IAF) during the school’s Senior Honors Night. The scholarships are part of the Money Masters Scholarship Program, a collaborative effort to promote financial education and inclusion among minority youth.
The program is set to provide IAF with access to a $75,000 scholarship fund over the next three years, with up to $25,000 available annually. Scholarships are designated for students who complete a series of financial literacy requirements and submit a successful application, the credit union said.

Each recipient will be awarded $2,500 in scholarship funds, deposited directly into their new Student Checking Accounts provided by Financial Plus.
In preparation for the scholarship awards, Financial Plus led two classroom sessions for IAF seniors and offered one-on-one financial coaching.
“These students took the time to invest in their own future by learning about banking, budgeting, credit, and how to navigate paying for college or trade school,” said Derek Lewis, financial wellness specialist, said in a statement. “We’re proud to celebrate their commitment as they take the next big step in their financial journeys.”
The Money Masters Scholarship Program is part of FHLBank Indianapolis’s broader commitment to reducing the wealth and homeownership gaps among minority and underserved communities by promoting early financial education and increasing access to safe, functional banking services. Through partnerships with member institutions, the program helps students gain foundational financial knowledge while also providing direct access to scholarship-funded bank accounts designed to support their long-term financial wellbeing.
