The Art of Fighting Fraud is Literally the Case at Reliant CU

SODUS, N.Y.–Reliant Credit Union is turning to art in the fight against fraud.

Reliant CU has launched a Fraud Fighters Art & Meme Contest and has invited community members to use their talents to help others in its effort, themed “Think Before You Share.”

The contest is open through July 31, with the $714.7-million credit union encouraging participants to submit original artwork—including hand-drawn posters, digital illustrations, or memes—that raise awareness about the dangers of scams and fraud.

This year’s theme, “Think Before You Share,” challenges artists to explore how easily scammers can exploit their victims into sharing sensitive information, RCU said.

‘Ever-Changing Tactics’

“Our goal is to empower the community to recognize and respond to the ever-changing tactics of fraudsters,” President and CEO Pamela Heald said in a statement. “By tapping into the power of creativity, we hope to educate and engage people of all ages in a conversation about how you can protect yourself by limiting the information you share with others.”

The Categories

According to Reliant, entries will be accepted in three age categories: Youth (Under 13), Teen (13–17), and Adult (18+). Winners in each category will receive exclusive Reliant swag, and top submissions will be featured in Reliant’s monthly newsletter, social media channels, and in a virtual gallery on the credit union’s website.

Resources Offered

To help artists prepare, Reliant CU is inviting entrants to view its online Fraud Prevention Hub at www.reliantcu.com/resources/fraud-id-theft/, where they can find tips, red flag warnings, and resources to help individuals become smarter and safer.
