DEPTFORD, N.J.–First Harvest Credit Union hosted 21 students from the Camden School District’s Future Bankers & Financial Professionals Camp.
These on-site learning opportunities, hosted by various financial institutions, invite Southern New Jersey students to step beyond the classroom to experience a hands-on approach to a professional future in the financial industry.
The Future Bankers and Financial Professionals Camp aims to cultivate the talent of high-achieving, minority high school juniors and seniors by providing them with opportunities to enhance their careers in financial services.

The credit union said the program helps to instill college readiness and financial education through industry exposure. The Center for Financial Training International (CFT), the FDIC & Federal Reserve Bank, local community colleges, universities, school districts, and financial services institutions work together to provide students not only with entry-level training but also to guide them towards positive career aspirations through relevant workplace skills.
The Camden School District and City of Camden are both within First Harvest Credit Union’s field of membership.
The students who visited First Harvest were exposed to many influential roles and functions within the credit union’s operations, including marketing, information technology, lending, human resources and administration, as well as member services. First Harvest department leaders spoke about the impact their team has on the performance of the credit union and the overall member experience.
“The Future Bankers and Financial Professionals Camp exposes aspiring young professionals to promising futures in the financial services industry,” First Harvest President & CEO Mike Dinneen said in a statement.“Our credit union’s participation gives us the unique opportunity to share our community-based values and people-helping-people philosophy with these receptive students. The professional exposure and real-world banking experience gained through this program will be invaluable to their futures and will help guide them on their path to success. We appreciated the opportunity to welcome these students from Camden and spend the day learning about their ideas, aspirations and perspectives on the future of banking.”
