WHITEFISH, Mont.–Whitefish Credit Union said it has been approved by the state’s Division of Banking and Financial Institutions to expand its FOM to 16 additional Montana counties.
Effective immediately, Whitefish Credit Union membership is now open to individuals and businesses who live, work, operate, own property, worship, participate in an association, or attend school in counties covering the greater Billings, Butte, and Great Falls areas. Prior to the expansion, Whitefish CU’s field of membership included the greater northwest Montana region, as well as the Missoula, Helena, and Bozeman areas, it said.

New Charter
In addition, Whitefish Credit Union’s board has approved and ratified the new charter. The updated field of membership now includes areas representing approximately 85% of Montana’s population.
“We see this membership expansion as an important milestone in advancing Whitefish Credit Union’s mission and growth plan,” President and CEO James Kenyon said in a statement. “We’ve consistently heard from individuals and businesses in these communities who want to be part of our cooperative. This expansion gives us the opportunity to serve them directly, with the trusted, member first approach that has defined Whitefish Credit Union for generations.”
The New Counties
The new counties in WCU’s FOM include Beaverhead, Big Horn, Carbon, Cascade, Deer Lodge, Granite, Jefferson, Madison, Meagher, Mineral, Park, Powell, Silver Bow, Stillwater, Sweet Grass and Yellowstone.
