CARBONDALE, Ill. – Following a $500,000 donation, the SIU Foundation celebrated the opening of the new SIU Credit Union Trailhead at Touch of Nature Outdoor Education Center.
The trailhead marks the first new construction at Touch of Nature in decades, highlighting a significant development for the center, according to the foundation. Touch of Nature welcomes more than 50,000 visitors annually.
“The new trailhead aims to enhance the center’s mission, contributing to the Imagine SIU 2030 fundraising campaign,” the credit union said. “This initiative focuses on investing in people, spaces, and purposes to create lasting impacts.”
‘Symbol of Collaboration’
The SIU Foundation expressed gratitude to SIU Credit Union and all contributors who helped “realize this vision. The trailhead is seen as a symbol of community collaboration and shared goals,” it said.
The $541-million credit union has approximately 45,000 members.
