NCUA Adds Resource With Tips to Improve Coordination With Examiners

ALEXANDRIA, Va.–NCUA has added a page to its website that offers tips for improving coordination between credit unions and their federal examiners in order to boost efficiency.

The agency said it introduced the additional resource in response to credit union post-exam survey feedback, an issue that was raised during its most recent board meeting, as the CU Daily reported here.

According to NCUA,  the comments “raised concerns about examiners sending duplicate requests for documents that were already provided.”

The new web page includes an explanation of how an NCUA examiner-in-charge “can promote a well-organized and effective examination during the exam notification and document request process.”

Additional Tips

The page also includes tips for credit unions to consider when naming and organizing requested files based on the secure method they use to provide the documents.

“The NCUA encourages credit unions to continue to provide feedback through the post exam survey,” the agency said. “All feedback is reviewed and considered when determining if changes need to be made to the credit union examination process.”

The page can be found here.
