AUGUSTA, Maine–Maine State Credit Union said its 20th Annual Walk to End Hunger raised more than $80,000 to support local food pantries and hunger relief organizations across Maine.
All funds will be returned directly to the communities they serve, the credit union said.
“Despite poor weather conditions, more than 130 participants took part in the walk, underscoring the strong community support behind this important cause,” Maine State CU said.
For many hunger organizations in Maine, this event represents their primary source of fundraising for the year, it added.

‘Powerful Example’
“This event is a powerful example of what happens when a community comes together to support its neighbors,” Stacey Dow, longtime event organizer and Maine State Credit Union employee, said in a statement. “Even with the terrible weather, over 130 people showed up to walk and raise money for this critical cause. Every dollar raised is reinvested directly back into the communities we serve. It’s heartwarming to know that this event—now in its 20th year—continues to make such a meaningful difference for so many people. I’m incredibly proud of everyone who participated, volunteered, or donated to help make it a success.”
‘True Team Spirit’
Added President and CEO Stephen Wallace in a statement, “This event is a true team effort. Each year, employees from every department volunteer their time, energy, and heart to ensure the Walk to End Hunger is a success. It’s a reflection of our values as a credit union—we’re here to serve, support, and uplift our communities. I’m incredibly proud of our team and the difference we’re making together.”
