SELCO Community CU Now the Title Sponsor for Popular Block Party

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — SELCO Community Credit Union has been named the first-ever title sponsor for Springfield’s The Block Party powered by SELCO Community Credit Union.

Scheduled for Friday, Sept. 5, The Block Party backed by the $2.7-billion SELCO is designed to bring the community — “whether that means Springfield specifically or Lane County as a whole — together to celebrate Springfield’s vibrant culture,” the credit union stated.

“The rapidly growing event has become a favorite annual tradition for residents, businesses, and civic organizations alike, drawing an estimated 10,000 people to the city’s historic downtown in 2024 alone,” according to SELCO Community CU.

Now in its sixth year, the credit union said the 2025 version of The Block Party is poised to be the biggest yet, expanding to more than seven city blocks and featuring live music, local food, craft beverages, and new experiences that will bring a surge of energy to downtown.

‘More than an Event’

“In The Block Party, we see more than an event — we see a catalyst that strengthens the bonds of this community,” Olivia Sorensen, community development supervisor for SELCO, said in a statement. “As a locally based credit union, SELCO has seen up close how organizers have created an event that perfectly captures the spirit of Springfield. We’re proud to be part of its evolution and helping ensure this incredible community gathering remains free, inclusive, and accessible for everyone who calls Lane County home.”

The credit union said that for the first five years The Block Party was built on grassroots support — funded through modest sponsorships from local businesses and service groups, and with organizers volunteering their time.

‘Expanded’ Reach

“With SELCO’s three-year commitment to be the event’s title sponsor, The Block Party gains a strategic partner to help elevate its programming, expand its reach, and enhance the overall experience while maintaining its open-to-all ethos,” the credit union said.
