WASHINGTON–The Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) continues to expand its advocacy efforts, announcing it has retained Elizabeth Eurgubian of Atlas Advocacy, a “respected government relations and advocacy consultant,” to expand its efforts.
“Credit unions are facing an increasingly complex and evolving regulatory environment, and it is vital that our members’ voices resonate with policymakers,” DCUC President and CEO Anthony Hernandez said in a statement. “By bringing Elizabeth on board, we are strengthening our ability to shape the regulatory landscape so that credit unions can grow, expand, and best serve their members and communities.”

“As DCUC continues to expand its advocacy team to meet the evolving needs of our rapidly growing membership, partnering with Atlas Advocacy and Elizabeth ensures we bring unmatched expertise and influence to our efforts,” Jason Stverak, DCUC chief advocacy officer, added in a statement. “Their leadership will help us deliver the strongest possible advocacy for our members in Washington, D.C., and across the nation.”
‘Extensive Experience’
DCUC said Eurgubian brings extensive experience in financial services policy. She previously served as director of the Office of External Affairs and Communications at NCUA and as policy advisor to former Chairman Todd Harper. Prior to her NCUA service, she was deputy chief advocacy officer for regulatory affairs at the Credit Union National Association, now America’s Credit Unions.
Eurgubian has also served as a regulatory attorney for the Independent Community Bankers of America, in-house counsel to Sallie Mae, Inc., and as an attorney with the Federal Reserve.
“Through this partnership, DCUC reaffirms its commitment to delivering the highest level of advocacy for credit unions, their members, and the communities they serve,” the organization said.
