ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Summit Credit Union said Central New York’s largest food and music festival drew an estimated 200,000 people in June while raising $24,141.74 for charity.
Two checks of $12,070.87 each were presented at Clinton Square to David’s Refuge and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central New York. The donations were raised in partnership with Tops Friendly Markets.
“Being a caregiver can be incredibly rewarding, but it also comes with physical, emotional, and financial challenges,” said Twanda Christensen, vice president of marketing and community engagement for The Summit.
“Every year, we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our community and grateful for their willingness to give back to those in need,” said Courtney Mailhot, community relations manager of Tops Friendly Markets.
Galaxy Events COO Carrie Wojtaszek, who organizes the festival, said the event has helped raise nearly $150,000 for local nonprofits since The Summit became title sponsor in 2017. Past beneficiaries include Make-A-Wish Central New York, ClearPath for Veterans, Elmcrest Children’s Center and Griffin’s Guardians.
