AmFirst Credit Union Named Wells Fargo Outstanding Corporate Citizen

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.AmFirst has been named the 2025 Wells Fargo Outstanding Corporate Citizen by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Alabama Chapter,in celebration of National Philanthropy Day.

This annual event honors the impact of philanthropy in Alabama and recognizes organizations that elevate giving as a way of life.

Selected from a distinguished group of nominees and nominated by United Way of CentralAlabama, AmFirst was recognized for its unwavering commitment to transformingcommunities through generosity, volunteerism, and advocacy. The credit union’s achievements exemplify the theme of National Philanthropy Day: making the world betterstarts with purposeful giving in local communities.

In 2025, AmFirst and its employees contributed nearly $388,000 to United Way agenciesacross five Alabama regions, supporting services in Central Alabama, Cullman County, North Talladega County, East Central Alabama, and Southwest Alabama.

Beyond financial contributions, AmFirst employees dedicated more than 1,800 volunteerhours to local nonprofits, participated in more than 1,000 community events, and led impactfulinitiatives in 2025, including:

  • Annual Book Drive: Collected more than 1,500 books for children to donate to BetterBasics.
  • Feeding Families Across Alabama: Provided more than 55,000 meals to individualsin need.
  • Support for Love All Pantry: Donated $1,000 to combat food insecurity in Mobile, Ala.
  • Rising Star Program: Since 2009, the program has recognized outstanding students and awarded six $5,000 scholarships this year alone.
  • Community First Initiative: Empowered employees to select and raise $40,000 each forfour nonprofits in 2025—Girls Inc. of Central Alabama, Safehouse, Cahaba ValleyHealth Care, and Pathways. The 2025 recipients are The WellHouse, Garrett’s Place, United Way Priority Veteran, and Better Basics.
