AmFirst CU Names Recipients of 2026 Community First Campaign

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — AmFirst has named the recipients of its 2026 Community First campaign: Covenant Rescue Group, Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center, Jones Valley Teaching Farm, and Libby’s Friends.

The Community First campaign is an annual AmFirst tradition where employees nominate and support local non-profit organizations, raising money and awareness for their important causes throughout the year.

In 2025, AmFirst said it and its employees and members raised $160,000 through the campaign, split equally among the selected organizations. For AmFirst, the focus is not only on fundraising but also on empowering organizations by ensuring their funds are unrestricted, the credit union said.

Recipients may use funds however they determine best supports their missions.

“Community First reflects who we are at AmFirst and our enduring commitment to serving others,” said AmFirst President and CEO Kevin Morris in a statement. “Each of this year’s recipients brings hope, healing, and opportunity to families across Alabama. We are proud to stand alongside them and support them in the vital work they do every day.”

AmFirst said it is dedicated to making an impact by supporting the following 2026 Community First recipients:

  • Covenant Rescue Group: Empowering first responders with the financial resources, training, and advocacy needed to defend and assist victims of human trafficking, particularly children. Through funding, training, and awareness, CRG is committed to saving lives and supporting frontline heroes.
  • Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center: Providing essential support, empowerment, and improved access to care for Alabama breast cancer patients, survivors, and their loved ones, from diagnosis and beyond.
  • Jones Valley Teaching Farm: Using food as a foundation for youth development, Jones Valley Teaching Farm delivers food-based education in Birmingham, helping young people grow, lead, and create a healthier future for their communities.
  • Libby’s Friends: Assisting families raising children with special needs by helping bridge the often-overwhelming financial gaps left by insurance, providing relief for therapies, adaptive equipment, and necessary resources.

“We could not do this without the passion and dedication of our employees, who are deeply invested in making a difference where we live and work,” Jody Mattson, AmFirst director of philanthropy and community engagement, said in a statement.  “Every dollar raised by our team and every hour volunteered comes from the heart. Together, we can create meaningful change for these outstanding organizations.”
