APGFCU Announces First Branch in Baltimore City

EDGEWOOD, Md. — APG Federal Credit Union (APGFCU®) has announced its physical expansion into Baltimore City. The credit union’s first-ever city branch is expected to open in the first quarter of 2027 in the Canton neighborhood at The Can Company shopping complex. The branch will occupy the former Starbucks and Cold Stone Creamery locations at 2400 Boston Street, Suite 100, Baltimore, MD 21224, the CU said.

According to APGFCU, construction on the branch will begin in the third quarter of this year. When complete, the 2,700-square-foot facility will feature full-service banking for members and interactive teller machines (ITMs), which will also function as ATMs. The ITMs will be accessible through a 24/7 vestibule, providing employee-assisted service beyond traditional branch hours. The new location will employ five full-time team members, with hiring to begin this spring.

This branch will serve as a central hub for APGFCU’s outreach efforts in Baltimore City. Since beginning service to Baltimore residents in 2022, the city has quickly become one of the credit union’s fastest-growing member markets.

“This moment represents a meaningful milestone for our growing credit union,” said Becky Smith, president and CEO of APGFCU. “Expanding into Baltimore gives us an opportunity to stand even closer to the members we already serve there, and to welcome new individuals, families and businesses who are seeking a financial partner they can truly trust. Establishing a physical presence is more than an expansion—it is a long-term promise to invest in the people of Baltimore City and to support them with the tools, services and guidance they need to feel confident and empowered in their financial lives.”

APGFCU, which recently became the official banking sponsor of the Baltimore Running Festival and title sponsor of the 10K distance, has long been an active partner in the Baltimore community. The credit union currently collaborates with 16 Baltimore City schools to deliver financial literacy programs to students. Recently, APGFCU partnered with Moveable Feast, a nonprofit that has served Baltimore communities for more than 30 years, where employees packaged more than 1,400 nutritious meals for local families experiencing food insecurity. The announcement follows APGFCU’s recent expansion into Baltimore County. Last September, APGFCU acquired Members First of Maryland Federal Credit Union and gained locations in Dundalk and Perry Hall, deepening its commitment to serving the Baltimore County region. APGFCU will open its third Baltimore County branch in Cockeysville this spring.
