Arrest Made for Alleged Kidnapping of CU Employee in Branch

EL PASO, Texas — A man has been arrested for the alleged kidnapping of an employee of  Government Employees Credit Union (GECU). 

Witnesses reported that the suspect entered the branch on Dyer Street here nervously and claimed armed men were following him, according to police. 

The suspect, 26-year-old Luis Fernando Colomo, of El Paso, allegedly grabbed a 28-year-old GECU employee, implied he had a weapon, and forced the employee into an office and later outside the building, intending to use him as a shield, the El Paso Police Department said in a press release.

Victim Escapes

Police said the unnamed victim managed to escape, and the suspect was quickly apprehended. Columo has been charged with aggravated kidnapping Use As Shield/Hostage and is held on a $75,000 bond set by Judge Baca.
Colomo has previously arrested for assaulting a security officer at the Sun Metro Bus Terminal, also on Dyer Street, and released on a personal recognizance bond, police said.
