JOSEPH, Ore.–Ten branches Community Bank located in Northeastern Oregon and Southeastern Washington will close at 3 p.m. today, when its customers become members of Spokane, Wash.-based STCU, which acquired the bank in August of 2024.

The organizations said they have spent the last few months preparing for the changeover.
Before the branches reopen Tuesday morning, they will be rebranded as STCU, though still staffed by the same employees that Community Bank.
“As credit union members, the former bank customers will have access to a broader suite of financial products and services, as well as 24-hour access to online banking, the STCU mobile app, and a network of 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs,” the $5.92-billion STCU said in a statement.
‘Know the Communities’
“Our two organizations share a commitment to serving our communities, and providing local access to financial services,” STCU President and CEO Ezra Eckhardt said in a statement. “By integrating the Community Bank staff into our existing team, we’re ensuring that we have people on the ground who know those communities well and have earned the trust of Community Bank customers.”
The institutions noted the integration required approval by the Oregon Division of Financial Regulation (ODFR), Washington Department of Financial Institutions (WDFI), the FDIC and NCUA. The ODFR in July, 2024 approved STCU’s request to expand its field-of-membership into 14 Oregon counties. STCU said its geographic footprint now includes 61 counties in North Idaho, Eastern Oregon, and all of Washington.
Branch Presence
Community Bank has seven Oregon branches in Wallowa, Union, Umatilla, and Baker counties. In addition, it has three branches in Washington’s Walla Walla and Asotin counties.
Prior to the acquisition, STCU had nearly 290,000 members.
