Carolina Trust FCU, Carolinas CU Foundation Award Scholarships

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.–For the third year, Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union and the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation have chosen two graduating high school seniors to win $5,000 each in scholarship awards.

The 2025 Community Service Scholarship winner is Alden McCann, who plans to attend the University of South Carolina this fall. The 2025 Legacy Scholarship winner is Justin Fountain, who plans to attend Clemson University in the fall.

Applicants were evaluated by the Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union and Carolinas Credit Union Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee based on grade point average, participation in school clubs and activities, community and volunteer involvement, and their response to an online essay question.

In addition to the four key areas, the Scholarship Selection Committee also recognizes that college is overwhelmingly expensive for many. To help, the Foundation’s scholarship application portal includes a financial need section. The 2025 award recipients were scored as most qualified for the scholarships based on the criteria stated above.

The credit union said it would also like to extend a sincere congratulations to member, Blake Eggerling, who was selected as a recipient for a 2025 Carolina Credit Union Foundation Scholarship. Eggerling plans to attend Furman University in the fall.

“We are honored to partner with the foundation to recognize these talented students. Their academic achievements in the classroom, extracurricular activities, and dedication to community service are truly impressive. We are proud of all the applicants who are planning to continue their education in an effort to achieve personal and professional goals,” CTCU President/CEO Tim Carlisle said in a statement.
