CEO Who is Champion March Madness Bracket Picker in Credit Unions Never Watched a Game

DALLAS—The champion March Madness bracket picker in credit unions has been identified—and it’s someone who never watched a single game.

Mary Beth Spuck, president and CEO of Resource 1 Credit Union in Texas, won the CU Daily’s “CU in the Tourney” March Madness bracket-picking contest for the men’s basketball tournament.

“Quite honestly, I’m embarrassed that I won.  I have never done a bracket before and this season I didn’t even watch one game,” Spuck told the CU Daily. “Let’s just keep this between us, I may have had a little help from AI. Even then, you can’t fully outsmart March Madness, but this year, it worked in my favor!”

None of the top 10 finishers in the “CU in the Tourney” pool selected the eventual champion, the University of Michigan, which defeated UConn in the final. Four of the top 10 finishers, including Spuck, picked Duke to cut down the nets, five people picked Arizona, and one person picked the University of Houston.

The CU Daily is making a contribution to Children’s Miracle Network in Spuck’s name for winning the “CU in the Tournament” competition.
