VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.–Chartway Credit Union has again been awarded the 2025 America’s Best-in-State Credit Union, “putting Chartway in an elite group of credit unions that have won this competitive title for four consecutive years.”
This award is presented by Forbes in collaboration with Statista, the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider.

America’s Best-In-State Credit Unions showcases the most valued institutions by residents in each state and recognizes credit unions that excel in meeting the unique needs and expectations of their local communities.
According to Forbes and Statista, America’s Best In-State Credit Unions 2025 were selected based on two measures:
- Independent Survey (80%): Approximately 26,000 U.S. consumers were asked to rate credit unions at which they have or previously had a checking/saving account. In addition, they had to rate the credit unions in six different dimensions: Trust, Terms & Conditions, Branch Services, Digital Services, Customer Services, and Financial Advice.
- Publicly Available Reviews (20%): For each credit union, in each state, a sentiment analysis approach of publicly available online text reviews and ratings was applied.
This year, 222 credit unions were recognized with the best-in-state accolade from Forbes, 15 more than the 2024 ranking.
“We’re humbled to be named one of America’s Best-In-State Credit Unions by Forbes for the fourth year in a row,” President and CEO Brian Schools said in a statement. “This honor reflects the trust our members have in our team and the work we do to build stronger communities.”
