Connections CU Making Connections in Rural Areas With New Mobile Branch

POCATELLO, Idaho–Connections Credit Union has added a mobile branch to expand financial services to underserved communities across Southeast Idaho.

The credit union said the mobile unit will provide the same services any person would expect from entering a Connections Credit Union.

“The effort to meet people where they are follows the credit union’s mission of being a community development financial institution, CDFI,” reported the Idaho State Journal.

Connections held a ribbon cutting in conjunction with the Pocatello/Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce, allowing spectators to tour the mobile unit.

“There are a lot of rural and underserved communities around our area,” CEO Jamie Simmons said during the event, according to the State Journal. “We wanted to be able to give them an option. It’s not probably feasible for every institution to do a brick and mortar everywhere, and we wanted to be able to meet our members where they are.”

Visiting Small Towns

Connections Credit Union serves 16 counties across southern Idaho. Simmons told the publication it has seen the mobile branches in other markets, but not among CUs in Idaho.

Connections CU said it is now visiting a number of smaller markets and has been working with city councils and creating schedules for visits.
