Consumers CU Introduces ‘Round-Up for Impact’ Feature for Savings, Charitable Giving

KALAMAZOO, Mich.–Consumers Credit Union has introduced “Round Up for Impact,” a new feature within its online banking solution that allows members to turn “everyday purchases into meaningful savings and charitable contributions.”

“This innovative tool gives members the flexibility to round up debit card transactions to the nearest dollar and choose whether the extra cents go toward boosting their savings or supporting trusted nonprofits—all with the touch of a button,” the $2.58-billion credit union said.

Member Options

According to Consumers CU, with Round Up for Impact, members can:

  • Save effortlessly by rounding up purchases to their savings account, helping build healthy financial habits
  • Give back easily by donating rounded up change to vetted charities
  • Make one-time donations to causes they care about through the integrated Giving Center.

“Members will also enjoy consolidated tracking and annual donation reports for tax purposes, making it simple to monitor contributions and plan for year-end reporting,” the 151,000-member CCU added.

The credit union has identified several dozen charities for donations.

‘Empowering Members’

“This feature is about empowering members to make a positive impact in ways that fit their lifestyle,” Katie Stoll, vice president of payments, said in a statement. “Whether it’s saving for the future or supporting local nonprofits, Round Up for Impact makes it simple and rewarding to turn small actions into big results.”

Consumers Credit Union said it partnered with Spiral, a leading provider of socially responsible banking technology, to bring this feature to life. Through Spiral’s platform, members can create a personalized portfolio of causes, track their charitable impact and receive donation reports.

‘Commitment to Innovation’

“The Round Up program reflects Consumers’ commitment to innovation and community engagement by combining digital convenience with opportunities for giving,” Scott Sylvester, president and CEO of Consumers Credit Union, added in a statement. “We love helping members achieve financial wellness while making a difference in the communities and organizations they care about. We’re excited to launch Round Up for Impact during the Season of Giving.”
