WASHINGTON–The Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) said it has entered into a partnership with Earnest Consulting Group aimed at building capacity in serving the interests of credit unions that serve military and veteran communities.
DCUC called the collaboration “another significant milestone in its mission to provide unparalleled support to defense credit unions and the communities they serve.”
“(Earnest Consulting Group President and CEO) Mike Pappalardo flew to Washington, D.C. last week and we immediately formed a connection,” said DCUC President and CEO Tony Hernandez in a statement. “I also met with the entire leadership team at ECG and saw their commitment to supporting military and veteran communities. I know we can build a larger trade association that will focus on serving our member credit unions and the communities they serve.”
Advantages of Joining Forces
DCUC said by joining forces the organizations can:
- Enhance the resources available to defense credit unions by equipping them with innovative solutions, tailored products, and effective industry representation.
- Strengthen advocacy efforts on behalf of defense credit unions serving military members, veterans, and their families, and ensure these communities receive the financial support they deserve.
‘Believing in the Mission’
“Thank you, Mike, and the entire team at ECG, for believing in our mission and joining our cause. I take these commitments very seriously and I am confident this collaboration will help both DCUC and ECG help our members build a successful future,” said Hernandez in a statement.
Added Pappalardo in a statement, “Earnest Consulting Group is honored to partner with DCUC, an organization that has identified a significant opportunity within the industry. We believe strong partnerships drive meaningful change, and by joining forces, we can extend our reach and amplify our efforts to support defense credit unions and the communities they serve. Tony has outlined a bold vision for the future, one that closely aligns with our values and commitment to progress. We are proud to stand alongside him and are fully dedicated to making that vision a reality.”

Nutmeg State Financial Joins DCUC
Separately, the DCUC said it has added Nutmeg State Financial CU, Rocky Hill, Conn., as its newest affiliate member.
“Our goal is to help everyone thrive by building strong social and economic connections and ensuring fair and inclusive access to resources,” NSFCU President and CEO John Holt said in a statement. “We’re committed to creating lasting prosperity for generations through education, collaboration, and meaningful financial support. Joining DCUC is an exciting step forward, allowing us to expand our reach and deepen our commitment—especially to our military, veterans, and DoD members—wherever they are.
“We are thrilled to welcome Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union to the DCUC family. Their commitment to financial empowerment and community service aligns perfectly with our mission to support military members, veterans, and their families. We look forward to a strong partnership that enhances access to quality financial services for those who serve our nation,” added Hernandez in a statement.
