WASHINGTON, D.C. –Two credit unions have been honored by the Air Force for flying higher than others.
Travis Credit Union, Travis Air Force Base in California, and Otero Federal Credit Union, Holloman AFB, in New Mexico, have been selected by the Department of the Air Force as the 2024 Air Force Distinguished Credit Unions of the Year.

All submissions from banks and credit unions were received and carefully reviewed by the United States Air Force Financial Management and Comptroller Command, Department of the U.S. Air Force, for consideration, noted the Defense Credit Union Council.
“We proudly congratulate Travis Credit Union and Otero Federal Credit Union—along with their dedicated staff at Travis and Holloman Air Force Bases—for earning the prestigious title of Air Force Credit Union of the Year,” Anthony Hernandez, DCUC President/CEO, said in a statement. “This honor is a testament to their unwavering commitment to our military communities, delivered with excellence, compassion, and a profound sense of duty. They are a remarkable example of what it truly means to serve those who serve.”
About the Awards
The DCUC noted that annually, the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Financial Management and Comptroller) recognizes the on-base financial institutions (bank and credit union) that provided exceptional service to our Air Force community during the preceding calendar year. The awards are based on recommendations submitted by installation Commanders. Nominations for credit unions will be accepted in two separate sub-categories: those institutions with total assets of $1 billion and above and those with less than $1 billion.
