EdFed Now the Title Sponsor of Annual 5K That Supports Schools

MIAMI–Educational Federal Credit Union (EdFed) said it is now the title sponsor for the annual 5K race staged to support Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS).

For over a decade, the event known as the Superintendent’s 5K has historically drawn over 7,000 participants to downtown Miami, the credit union said, adding it has entered a multi-year sponsorship agreement with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Foundation (M-DCPS Foundation), the organizer of the event.

“We are very excited to serve as the title sponsor of this important community event,” President and CEO Mike DiBenedetto said in a statement. “EdFed continually seeks out opportunities to support and invest in the educational community. We look forward to helping expand awareness of the important work the M-DCPS Foundation does to raise funds for our schools.”

The New Name

The event, now known as the EdFed Race for Education at the Superintendent’s 5K, will be held on March 7, 2026, at Maurice A. Ferre Park, 1075 Biscayne Blvd in Miami. The credit union said participants of all ages and fitness levels are invited to take part in the 5K, which features live entertainment and opportunities to connect with local organizations.

Proceeds from the event provide supplemental funding to programs that enhance student learning, strengthen resources for teachers, and expand educational opportunities.
