VIENNA, Va.—Navy FCU said it has formed a new Military Affairs and Strategic Partnerships business unit, to be led by Retired U.S. Navy Capt. Keith Hoskins, that is designed to “enhance” its support for Americans in uniform, veterans and their families.
Navy FCU said the new Military Affairs and Strategic Partnerships unit will bring together its various community engagement and member support initiatives under a “single, cohesive strategy. This new framework will ensure a more unified approach to community impact, strengthening members’ financial health and supporting them through key moments both during and after military life.”
“Navy Federal is dedicated to the financial wellbeing of our 14 million members across the globe,” President and CEO Dietrich Kuhlmann said in a statement. “We also have a duty to serve America’s broader military community. As we seek to expand our impact in this area, our new Military Affairs and Strategic Partnerships team will allow us to enhance our programs and better leverage relationships with partners who share our values. This will help us continue to provide meaningful, lifelong support to Servicemembers and their families.”

Primary Areas of Focus
According to Navy FCU, primary areas of focus include:
- The Office of Financial Opportunity, which “enhances numerous current Navy Federal programs to help its members achieve their financial and homeownership goals.”
- Strategic Partnerships and Community Impact, which “amplifies Navy Federal’s impact on our valued military, veteran and member communities, through strategic alignment of external partnerships and community impact.”
- Government Relations and Public Policy, which “engages in advocacy and initiatives to ensure Navy Federal is positioned to serve the unique needs of military members and their families.”
About New Leader
Navy Federal said Hoskins takes the helm of the Military Affairs and Strategic Partnerships team after serving as an executive at Navy Federal’s Greater Pensacola Operations campus in Florida, and later leading the credit union’s Branch Operations team, which has some 5,500 team members spread across 16 countries.
Prior to joining Navy Federal, Hoskins served for 27 years in the U.S. Navy before retiring as a captain. There, he served as an FA-18 pilot on the Blue Angels flight demonstration team and as commanding officer for Naval Air Station Pensacola. Under Hoskins’ leadership, President Barack Obama awarded NAS Pensacola the Commander in Chief’s Installation Excellence Award in 2015.

Mission ‘Remains the Same’
“Having served with dedication in the United States Navy and led teams with a purpose in Branch Operations, I now take the challenge of leading the Military Affairs and Strategic Partnerships business unit,” Hoskins said in a statement. “Our mission remains the same: to bring an unwavering commitment and a collaborative strategy to ensure we exceed the expectations of our members and the communities we serve. I am proud to be part of it and look forward to leading this new team and building on Navy Federal’s legacy of serving our military community.”
Personnel Change
Navy FCU said SVP Tracy Montgomery will serve as the acting lead for Branch Operations while the search for a full-time replacement is conducted.
The $190-billion Navy FCU has approximately 14.5 million members.
