MASON CITY, Iowa – A credit union employee has been accused of embezzling over $40,000.

According to prosecutors, Casey Dameron Servantez, 45 of Mason City, Iowa, is facing a charge of first-degree theft, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
The Mason City Police Department said it had received a report in March from the $175-million CENT Credit Union that an internal audit had allegedly found several cashiers’ checks had been cut from multiple accounts for the personal use of Servantez, who was employed by the credit union.
According to investigators, Servantez allegedly created numerous checks from escrow accounts between May 2023 and January 2025. Court documents state about $42,957 was stolen in this manner.
Servantez allegedly admitted to the thefts, according to prosecutors.
