DEPTFORD, N.J.–First Harvest Credit Union’s Charitable Journey Program has donated $2,000 to the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS), which funds brain tumor research grants and awards for researchers and institutions to support the discovery of effective treatment options and, ultimately, a cure while also advocating for patients.
Charitable Journey is an employee-led program established in 2015 by a volunteer group of First Harvest employees with a passion to serve our community. Quarterly fundraising initiatives are held to support various charities close to the hearts of First Harvest employees.
Since inception, the Charitable Journey Program has donated approximately $62,000 to local organizations.

The National Brain Tumor Society is a nonprofit founded in 2008 after the National Brain Tumor Foundation and the Brain Tumor Society merged together to strengthen their collective efforts, For over 30 years, the NBTS has been dedicated to driving innovative discovery, providing vital support for patients and providers, and championing legislation to help ensure the needs of those diagnosed are heard and meet.
“Our Charitable Journey Program and our credit union as a whole support the causes and organizations that are most important to our employees and their families. The National Brain Tumor Society has a 30-year legacy and dedication to the research, advocacy, and treatment support for those battling these diagnoses,” First Harvest President & CEO Mike Dinneen said in a statement.“Our Charitable Journey Program has always embodied the ‘people helping people’ philosophy that is at the core of our credit union mission. Through employee-led fundraising programs, these volunteers are able to make positive impacts within our community and beyond.”
