EL PASO, Texas–FirstLight FCU’s FirstLight Community Foundation has launched the FirstLight HomeMatch Program, which seeks to help people achieve homeownership.

According to the $1.59-billion credit union, the foundation, which is marking its 10th anniversary, continues to advance its mission of improving financial well-being, expanding access to higher education and helping families achieve the dream of homeownership. “The HomeMatch Program builds on that legacy by offering a practical, equity-focused initiative that offers support for qualified first-time homebuyers in the Borderplex region,” FirstLight FCU said.
How to Qualify
The program provides matched savings for participants who meet the following criteria:
- Household income under $100,000
- First-time homebuyer status
- Purchasing a home in El Paso County or Doña Ana County
- Financing through FirstLight
- Completion of six financial education classes
- Participants must open an Individual Development Account and contribute savings toward their home purchase. For every dollar saved (up to $1,000), the FirstLight Community Foundation will provide a 5-to-1 match, resulting in up to $6,000 available for a down payment.
‘Real Lasting Impact’
“We are honored to work alongside our community to create real, lasting impact in the region,” President/CEO Margie Salazar said in a statement. “Programs like HomeMatch are more than financial support, representing possibility and progress for working families seeking stability and opportunity.”
