SALISBURY, N.C. — Ahold Delhaize USA, the parent company to a number of well-known food stores, said it has expanded its partnership with Fiserv to introduce a “Pay by Bank” option across several of its grocery brands, offering customers a way to pay for online orders directly from their bank accounts.
According to Fiserv, the payment option is now available on the e-commerce websites and mobile apps of The GIANT Company, Giant Food and Stop & Shop. The feature allows customers to securely link a bank account through an authentication process, eliminating the need to enter or store credit card information for future purchases.
Fiserv said tens of thousands of customers have enrolled in the service since its launch in late 2025.
Card ‘Alternative’
The companies said the addition of Pay by Bank is intended to provide an alternative to traditional card payments while improving transaction security and reliability. It also is expected to help streamline checkout processes and deliver cost efficiencies across digital transactions, according to the statement.
“Expanding digital payment choice is an example of how we continue to enhance our omnichannel platform,” said Keith Nicks, chief commercial and digital officer at Ahold Delhaize USA, in the statement. “Pay by Bank provides a simple way for customers to pay directly from their bank accounts, creating a seamless checkout experience.”
Lia Cao, chief revenue officer for enterprise and platform clients at Fiserv, said the addition reflects a broader effort to strengthen payment infrastructure supporting retail operations.
“Adding Pay by Bank is more than introducing a new tender type,” Cao said in the statement. “It reflects our commitment to strengthening the omnichannel platforms behind everyday commerce.”
Continued Enhancement
Ahold Delhaize USA said it plans to continue enhancing its omnichannel platform to expand user experience and payment flexibility.
Ahold Delhaize USA is part of global food retailer Ahold Delhaize and operates several grocery brands, including Food Lion, The GIANT Company, Giant Food, Hannaford and Stop & Shop, serving approximately 26 million customers weekly.
