FourLeaf FCU Held Series of Volunteer Initiatives as Part of Women’s History Month

BETHPAGE, N.Y. — FourLeaf Federal Credit Union said it carried out a series of volunteer initiatives across Long Island in March to support women and families, marking Women’s History Month, according to the credit union.

The efforts included partnerships with local nonprofits focused on health care, housing stability, education and basic needs, with employees providing hands-on support throughout the month.

“At FourLeaf, we believe that empowering women strengthens entire communities,” said Katie Bielawski, vice president of community and corporate engagement, in a statement. “Women’s History Month is an important opportunity to not only recognize the achievements of women, but to take meaningful action in supporting their health, well-being, and future.”

Tote Bags Assembled

As part of the initiative, FourLeaf employees worked with the West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition for Long Island to assemble tote bags containing essential items for patients undergoing treatment for breast and gynecological cancers. The bags will be distributed to local hospitals to provide support during treatment, the credit union said.

The credit union also partnered with Bethany House to assemble snack bags for children living in shelters. The organization provides housing and support services for women and children experiencing homelessness across six Long Island locations.

In addition, employees collaborated with the United Way of Long Island and the Alliance for Period Supplies to assemble hygiene kits aimed at addressing period poverty. The kits, which include items such as pads and tampons, will be distributed to women and girls in need, FourLeaf said.

English Language Learners

Volunteers also participated in early childhood education efforts with the Family & Children’s Association, reading to nursery students ages 3 to 5, including many who are English language learners.

The initiatives are part of the credit union’s broader community outreach efforts, which aim to support local organizations and expand its impact beyond financial services, according to the release.

“By partnering with these incredible organizations, we’re able to extend our impact beyond financial services and into the everyday lives of our neighbors,” Bielawski said. “This is what community means to us.”
