FREMONT, Ohio–Fremont Federal Credit Union has announced plans to build a new headquarters at the site of a former Kroger grocery store on the east bank of the Sandusky River.
The new headquarters is expected to be open following the credit union’s celebration of its 80th anniversary, according to the Toledo Blade.

Site preparation work will begin as early as this summer, with required surveys, environmental work, and planning already underway. The bulk of the construction will take place in 2026, with an anticipated move-in date of early 2027, the report added.
Fremont Mayor Daniel R. Sanchez told the Blade the plan to redevelop a property in need revitalization demonstrates the credit union’s commitment to Fremont.
‘Investment in Community’
“It is not only an investment in themselves, but also an investment in our community,” Sanchez told the publication. “As my team and I work to attract new developments daily, I believe this project will spark more good things to happen in our community.”
The $352.8-million Fremont FCU has approximately 21,500 members.
