FREMONT, Ohio–Fremont Federal Credit Union said it plans to mark its 80th anniversary in 2026 by donating $80,000 to charitable and philanthropic causes throughout the year.
Fremont FCU said the initiative, titled “$80K for 80 Years,” reflects its long-standing people helping people” philosophy and will support nonprofits, schools, community programs, scholarships, and other local efforts across Northwest Ohio.

“Our members have allowed us to play a significant role in their lives for 80 years, from first cars or first homes or supporting their children’s education,” President and CEO Nick Cray said in a statement. “This anniversary is not just a milestone for us; it’s a tribute to the incredible people who have supported us along the way. ‘$80K for 80 Years’ is our heartfelt way of showing gratitude and giving back to the communities that nurtured us.”
Where Funds Will Go
Throughout 2026, donated funds will be directed toward youth and school programs including scholarships, food security initiatives, crisis and emergency services, nonprofit development, and charitable fund-raising activities, Fremont FCU said, adding all contributions will remain within the communities the credit union serves.
From financial literacy courses taught in Spanish at La Conexión in Bowling Green, to supporting young mothers at Mom’s House in Toledo, or guiding students in exploring careers through the REACH program, FFCU said it is dedicated to breaking down barriers and creating pathways to success.

‘Guiding Principle’
“Our guiding principle is to walk alongside our community, empowering them rather than leading from the front,” Community Engagement Manager Lori Turner said in a statement. “Every class we offer and every conversation we initiate is aimed at equipping our neighbors with the confidence and tools needed to forge a brighter future. This year, we are truly excited to extend our reach and support, which means everything to us.”
Fremont FCU said it annually donates and participates in tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of charitable causes through scholarships, sponsorships, financial education, and community events. In addition to being a United Way “Pacesetter,” a key component of the anniversary giving effort is the credit union’s employee-led “Jeans for Charity” program. FFCU Employees voluntarily contribute a portion of their pay for the option to wear jeans on designated days, with all funds matched by the credit union and distributed quarterly to charitable organizations selected by employees. In 2026, the program is expanding to include full Jeans for Charity weeks, increasing the total impact of donations.
