FREMONT, Mich.–Two credit unions are celebrating birthdays marking their long lives.
In Michigan, Gerber FCU is celebrating its 75th anniversary.
In a note to members, the GFCU noted it was founded in 1950 at the Gerber Products Company plant to meet the financial needs of local employees, and since then has grown into a full-service community credit union with over $240 million in assets and more than 16,000 members.

“As we reflect on this incredible journey, we are filled with gratitude and admiration for the people who have made it all possible — our members, volunteer board members, and colleagues,” wrote CEO John P. Buckley, Jr. “This anniversary is not just a celebration of our history, but a tribute to the heart and soul of our credit union: the individuals who have been with us every step of the way.”
You Are the Reason We Are Here’
Under the heading, “To Our Members,” Buckley continued, “You are the reason we’re here. Your goals have been our goals since the beginning; buying that first car, opening a savings account for your kids, or navigating life’s unexpected turns. Thank you for choosing Gerber FCU, for placing your trust in us, and for allowing us to be part of your financial journey.”
Under the heading, “Volunteer Board Members,” Buckley stated, “Your leadership has guided us through decades of change. You’ve given your time and insight to ensure our members’ best interests are always at the heart of what we do. With care and commitment, you’ve helped shape the strong, stable credit union we are today. We are so grateful for your service.”
In under the heading “To Our Colleagues,” Buckley wrote, “You are the heartbeat of Gerber FCU. Whether you’ve worked at the teller line, in a branch office, or behind the scenes, your dedication has made all the difference. The kindness you show, the relationships you build, and the integrity you bring to your work every day are what set us apart. Thank you for helping us serve our members with excellence and heart.”
