INDIANAPOLIS–The Indiana Credit Union League has been recognized for its 100th birthday with the Century Award from Indiana Gov. Mike Braun.
The award was presented during a Statehouse ceremony to mark the milestone.
The Indiana League was the Midwest’s first credit union association, founded on Oct. 9, 1925.
“It’s a testament to the member-focused, purpose-driven mission of Indiana’s credit unions that we can celebrate 100 years as their association this year,” League President John McKenzie said in a statement. “This milestone is an achievement made possible because of today’s 126 member-owned, not-for-profit Indiana credit unions serving 2.8 million Hoosiers and the role of the Indiana Credit Union League in supporting credit union success over so many decades.”
About the Award
The Governor’s Century and Half Century Business Awards honor Hoosier businesses and organizations that have remained in operation for a minimum of 100 or 50 consecutive years, respectively, and have demonstrated a commitment to community service. More than 1,280 Indiana companies have been recognized during the award’s 33-year history.
