Greater Nevada Mortgage Announces Two Promotions

CARSON CITY, Nev.–Greater Nevada Mortgage (GNM), the mortgage lending subsidiary of Greater Nevada Credit Union, has promoted Jeff Newbury to senior vice president of mortgage lending, and Roberta Benke to vice president of mortgage operations.

Both leaders bring decades of industry expertise and a commitment to fostering a renewed culture at GNM that supports borrowers and Greater Nevada team members alike, the company said.

“Since joining GNM in August 2023 as vice president of mortgage operations, Newbury has made a significant impact by streamlining operational processes, reducing loan approval turnaround times and increasing overall efficiency,” the company stated. “Through the course of his two-decade mortgage career, he has participated in the execution of more than $60 billion in mortgage loans. His extensive background includes leadership roles at Primary Capital Mortgage, Stearns Lending, AmWest Funding Corp., MAXEX and Rushmore Correspondent Loan Services.”

“We are excited to promote Jeff to senior vice president of mortgage lending to lead GNM into its next chapter of growth and impact,” said Danny DeLaRosa, chief executive officer and president of GNCU. “Jeff’s commitment to fostering a positive, people-first culture will help us reach more clients and successfully guide them toward reaching their homeownership dreams.”

In his new role, Newbury will oversee mortgage sales and operations teams across all regions, ensuring the development and execution of key strategies that enhance the mortgage lending experience.

Outside of work, Newbury enjoys hiking, mountain biking, running and making his wife laugh. He also spent 25 years coaching competitive youth soccer in Georgia, bolstering local youth programs through advocacy and fundraising.

Since joining GNM in 2022 as mortgage operations manager, Benke has been instrumental in launching new mortgage products and improving operational processes. Her nearly 30 years of experience spans underwriting, loan origination and leadership roles, making her a well-rounded and highly respected expert in home lending.

“Roberta has demonstrated operational excellence and leadership, and I could not be prouder of her promotion to vice president of mortgage operations at GNM,” said Newbury. “Her extensive knowledge, experience and professionalism will enable her to seamlessly transition into her new role and continue to serve as a valued leader at GNM.”

In her new role, Benke will oversee mortgage operations and processing, ensuring an exceptional experience for both borrowers and staff. She will lead teams in processing, underwriting, opening, closing and shipping mortgage loans while driving efficiency and service excellence.

Outside of work, Benke is passionate about giving back and supports those in need through The Hope Center in central Texas, where she currently resides.
