STOCKHOLM, Sweden–Attendees at the Global Women’s Leadership Network meeting were given an update on the global gender gap between women and men around the world as rated on four factors.

The annual update was shared by Eleni Giakoumopoulos, director of the GWLN. The international rankings are based on health, economic opportunity, government and education. The leading countries are shown in the graphic, below.
Not shown were some of the countries represented by those in attendance at the GWLN meeting, including: The United States, which was ranked 42nd; Australia, 13th; Brazil’ ranked 72nd; and South Korea, 123rd.
Giakoumopoulos said the data show the planet is 123 years away from closing the global gender gap.
“We have work to do not just for us, but for our future generations, for our daughters, our nieces, our great-granddaughters,” Giakoumopoulos said.

Separately, during the meeting, Giakoumopoulos was recognized with a surprise award for her hard work and dedication to the GWLN.
