Hospital Classroom Named for Suncoast CU Following $250K Donation

TAMPA–The Tampa General Hospital Foundation has announced that a classroom at Muma Children’s Hospital will now be named the Suncoast Credit Union Classroom, in recognition of a $250,000 gift.

The classroom is home to the Cynthia Wells King School program, which partners with Hillsborough County Public Schools to provide hospital-based education for pediatric patients. The program serves students from pre-K through age 22, helping them keep up with schoolwork during long hospital stays or frequent visits.

The contribution from Suncoast Credit Union is part of the third phase of renovations at Muma Children’s Hospital.

“Contributing to the continuation of a hospitalized child’s education is a perfect fit for our mission,” said Kevin Johnson, president and chief executive officer of Suncoast Credit Union. “It brings important partners together to solve challenges in our community. In the long run, this helps all of us because an educated community builds a prosperous economy, locally and beyond.”

Suncoast Credit Union, which joined the TGH Foundation’s Corporate Philanthropy Partners program in 2021, renewed its support with this donation.
