InTouch CU Raises $279K to Help Fight Hunger

PLANO, Texas — InTouch Credit Union said its “You and Us, Fighting Hunger Together” campaign has donated $279,650 to local food banks to support hunger relief efforts.

The campaign benefits the North Texas Food Bank, Three Square Food Bank in Nevada and Gleaners Food Bank in Michigan.

ITCU has set a goal of contributing $1 million to local food banks, which it said would provide more than 3 million meals.

“When people see that something as ordinary as a card swipe can help a neighbor eat tonight, they’re more likely to act,” said Gloria Smith, senior vice president and chief branch officer. “We’re wired to care for our communities, and this campaign makes it easy to turn that intention into impact.”

Launched in 2022, the program channels a portion of revenue from new loans and credit or debit card transactions to food banks affiliated with Feeding America. ITCU said everyday transactions by members translate directly into donations.

Food insecurity affected an estimated 47.4 million Americans in 2023, including 7.2 million children, according to Feeding America.
