ORLANDO–The League of Credit Unions has launched “League Communities.”

The communities are not limited and will be formed among as many like-minded people and around as many issues in credit unions as individuals and CUs would like, according to Samantha A.M. Beeler, president of the League of Credit Unions.
Beeler announced the new groups during the organization’s ENGAGE Conference in Orlando. The League of Credit Unions represents CUs in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Virginia.

Beeler noted the League, which was formerly known as the League of Southeastern Credit Unions prior to a merger with the Virginia league, had previously sponsored various councils around numerous issues, but she said those proved to be “too rigid” and with too “high a barrier to entry.”
The League Communities will be available to all affiliated CUs through an online platform.
‘Dozens of Communities’
“Everyone will have a community that hopefully meets your needs and creates a connection,” said Beeler. “Over time, we want to have dozens of Communities. For CFOs, for branches, for compliance, for fraud. It’s important you tell us what other communities you need.”
Beeler said CU leaders can belong to as many different Communities as they would like.
