SHREWSBURY, Mass.–Central One Credit Union has alerted members to a cybersecurity breach that involves their personal information.

In a filing with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, the $836-million Central One said an unauthorized person accessed and/or acquired files from its network containing personally identifiable information (“PII”) that includes individuals’ names in combination with Social Security number, government-issued ID number (e.g. driver’s license, passport, state ID card), financial Information (e.g. account number, credit or debit card number), medical Information and health insurance Information.
The credit union also reported the breach with the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
Law Firms Seeking Plaintiffs
Several law firms have already indicated they are seeking plaintiffs, with a post by ClassAction.org stating its attorneys are “looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Central One Federal Credit Union data breach. As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.”
