SAULT STE. MARIE, Ontario–Your Neighbourhood Credit Union (YNCU) said it is taking steps to reimburse members after they lost money from their accounts in a hacking incident that took place last week.
Several YNCU members who lost money voiced their concern in social media posts Saturday, according to Soo Today.

“I went on Facebook this morning and saw Keeping The Soo Safe and I saw the post. I checked my account and there was a charge of close to $600 to my account from Health Setting LLC in Renton WA,” said YNCU member Kim Liepa in a phone interview with SooToday.
“I was very upset,” said YNCU member Louise Nichols.
Nichols said she was charged twice by Health Setting LLC in Renton WA and lost approximately $1,000.
‘Thought We Were Supposed to be Safe’
“I thought we’re supposed to be safe at the bank but obviously we’re not. You think it’s not going to happen to you but there you go, it happened,” Nichols said.
Nichols said she was reimbursed for the fraudulent charges by YNCU within one day.
The credit union is not related to the Your Neighborhood CU in Ohio.
