LONG BEACH, Calif.–The National Association of Latino Credit Unions and Professionals honored the recipients of the 2026 NLCUP Conference Awards during an awards ceremony here at the NLCUP 2026 Conference.
The organization said the awards honor leaders whose work has strengthened the credit union movement through dedicated service, meaningful advocacy, and transformative community engagement.
“Each honoree’s contributions reflect NLCUP’s core belief that representation, access, and community-centered leadership are essential to building a more equitable and resilient industry,” NLCUP said.

2026 NLCUP Conference Award Recipients
The recipients included:
- Miriam De Dios Woodward, Advocacy Champion Award
- Debbie McLeod, Credit Union Ally Award
- Mary Navarrete, Community Leader Award
- Raquel Gomez, Emerging Leader Award
- Jose Lara, Legacy Leader Award
- Carlos Calderon, Lifetime Leadership and Service Award
Consul General Recognized
During the ceremony, NLCUP said it also welcomed Ambassador Carlos González Gutiérrez, Consul General of Mexico in Los Angeles, and presented him with the Spirit of Hope Award in recognition of his “steadfast commitment to uplifting Latino communities, advancing opportunity, and strengthening connections across borders.”
‘Vision & Courage’
“These leaders exemplify what it means to serve with vision, courage, and commitment,” Barbara Mojica, executive director of NLCUP, said in a statement. “Their work not only uplifts their organizations and communities but also inspires the next generation of Latino and allied credit union professionals.”
