NCUA Reminds Deadline for CDRLF Grant Applications is Now 6 Weeks Out

ALEXANDRIA, Va. –NCUA is reminding that it plans to award more than $3.4 million in grants to low-income designated credit unions through the open Community Development Revolving Loan Fund (CDRFL) grant round, and that applications must be submitted before Dec. 16 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

The agency said interested credit unions are encouraged to view a pre-recorded webinar detailing how to apply for a 2025 CDRLF grant. This webinar is available on NCUA’s YouTube Channel and the Learning Management System, it said.

Portal Now Requires MFA

According to NCUA, CyberGrants, its grant and loan management system, recently implemented multi-factor authentication to “enhance the security of credit unions’ data and reduce the likelihood that unauthorized users gain access to CyberGrants accounts.”

Applicants should review the CyberGrants multi-factor authentication FAQs posted on the NCUA’s Grants page

“It is strongly recommended that all credit unions start their grant applications early to allow for sufficient time to resolve any technical issues with multi-factor authentication,: NCUA said.

SAM.gov Registration Reminder

In addition, NCUA said eligible credit unions that want to apply for CDRLF grants or loans must have an active registration with the System for Award Management, or SAM and are encouraged to confirm registration before submitting an application. There is no charge for SAM registration or renewal.

NCUA said it also offers an informative webinar on how to use SAM.gov.

Begin Early

NCUA said prospective applicants are advised to begin the SAM registration and renewal processes as early as possible, as the process can take up to a few weeks to complete. Credit unions that are currently registered in SAM.gov must complete the annual registration renewal, prior to registration expiration, to maintain an active registration.

“To ensure there are no issues receiving an award, NCUA recommends all credit unions ensure their registration is active before and after grant application submission.” NCUA said.

For More Info

NCUA said its grants page has grant application guidelines and other helpful information for credit unions interested in applying. Credit unions also may contact NCUA’s Office of Credit Union Resources and Expansion with any questions by emailing to [email protected].
